VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT

Fire protection is provided by a 30-member volunteer rural fire department, including certified Emergency Medical Technicians and first responders. From one well-equipped fire station, the department provides fire protection, and ambulance and rescue service within a 6-mile radius surrounding the Village.

MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Doniphan Herald is the local weekly newspaper with 450 subscribers. Other papers delivered locally are the Hastings Tribune, Grand Island Independent, the Sunday Omaha World-Herald, and Lincoln Journal Star.

Television stations carrying local news include:

KTVG (FOX) – Grand Island

KSNB (NBC) – Hastings

KOLN/KGIN (CBS) – Lincoln/Grand Island

KLKN (ABC) – Lincoln

KHGI (ABC) – Grand Island

KHNE (PBS) – Kearney

A wide variety of AM and FM radio stations also serve the Doniphan area.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS/INTERNET

Hamilton Telecommunications of Aurora, Nebraska is the local exchange carrier in the Doniphan area. Local internet service is also provided by Hamilton, CenturyLink as well as by Glenwood Wireless of Blue Hill.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT/LAW ENFORCEMENT

The Village of Doniphan contracts with the Hall County Sheriff’s Department for law enforcement. Regular patrol provides protection to residents and existing industries in the area.

A five-member Board of Trustees governs Doniphan, through an annual budget of $165,000.

DONIPHAN POST OFFICE

The Post Office in Doniphan has one mail receipt and one dispatch daily.

Window hours are 8:00 am - 11:30 am and 12:30 pm - 3:45 pm Monday thru Friday. Saturday hours are 8:00 am - 10:00 am.
